The Willing Helpers’ News Springtime on Rose Hill Spring was a long time coming this year so the ladies of the home have been anxious for  its arrival. Time to open the windows, sit on the deck, plant flowers and go for walks.  In May we celebrated two birthdays and hosted our annual Mother’s Day Bunch.  Our two birthday celebrants enjoyed dinners of their choice, received flowers from the Board of Managers and many cards and gifts from friends and relatives. Over fifty members of the Willing Helpers family were able to enjoy our annual Mother’s Day Brunch, which was held on Sunday May 13th. The residents welcomed family members into “their home” and shard a delicious meal prepared by our cook, Kim Williams and served by our loyal and caring staff. The ladies enjoyed many more activities during the month of May. Those activities included games, movies, exercise groups, volleyball, Bible Study and story time and songs with volunteers from the board.  Story time includes poems written by Alma Avery, our resident poet.  Alma’s work was recently published in the local newspaper as well as the Empire State Association of Assisted Living’s monthly newsletter. Congratulations to Alma. In June, we dressed the home up with flowers for the summer and got out the umbrellas in anticipation of spending lots of time outside on the deck. We celebrated two birthdays and enjoyed two visits from our friends from Ms. Megan Floyd’s Pre-School class from the Broadalbin Perth School District. These children visited with us often during the school year. During their first visit they enjoyed stories read by resident, Marjorie Croucher and Board President, Nelva Teabout.  Our last activity with them was a picnic with the ladies where the children received Special Certificates of Completion from our director, Tammy Kruger. They also enjoyed blowing bubbles and eating lunch on the deck with our residents. Our official summer activities began on June 21st with our annual picnic, hosted by the board and enjoyed by all. This summer we are looking forward to a Pool Party on July 19th and on August 16th, the dedication of our rose garden in memory of Mrs. Rose Knox.  Mrs. Knox, along with her husband, Charles, donated the home to the Willing Helpers’ Society in 1908. Mrs. Knox continued to support us throughout her life.  This year is a year of celebration for us.  We will celebrate our 110th year of service to the community with a Grand Open House scheduled for Sunday November 18th. The public is invited to attend. If you haven’t visited us, this would be a great time to come in and tour the home and enjoy the special treats, entertainment and activities planned for the day.  If you are interested in visiting sooner, please contact Tammy Kruger at 518-762-7719. Have a wonderful Summer. The Family at Willing Helpers
